Foal on the mend

A foal found abandoned on a roadside in Essex is being nursed back to health after a donation appeal. The four month old piebald cob – named Gizmo by RSPCA staff – was found in an “emaciated state” near a caravan park in Halstead. The RSPCA raised £7,600 so the foal could receive specialist care. A charity spokesman said the animal was still “poorly”, but the money would help its recovery.
