A hedgehog that had its spikes cut is on the mend. A maintenance man found the animal, now called Frankie, in a University of Sheffield student accommodation kitchen. He was taken to Cawthrone Hedgehog Rescue and Care Centre in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, given painkillers and taken to a vet, where it was confirmed he had no broken bones. However, Frankie did have ringworm and it is likely whoever cut his spines will have contracted it too. The RSPCA has been informed and the University is investigating.
