A group of 12 vets spent 28-29 June with Virbac Paprec 70, a yacht captained by Jean-Pierre Dick, son of Virbac’s founder Pierre Richard Dick.  Jean-Pierre is a world-renowned yachtsman and was competing in this year’s Route des Prince race.  His Virbac-sponsored yacht is a MOD70 multi-hull and has been newly built this year.

The Route des Prince race covers a distance of 3,045 nautical miles between Valencia and the Bay of Morlaix via Lisbon and Dublin, Dún Loaghaire.  It stops off in Plymouth for two days and, during the break, the teams compete in a series of inshore races.  It was during this stopover that the 12 vets, all Virbac customers,  joined Jean-Pierre and his crew, experiencing both a race on board the yacht and another following behind in a speedboat.

Phil Shepherd, Partner at the Birch Veterinary Centre in Merseyside, commented:  “It was an awesome experience – the sailing equivalent of sitting on Lewis Hamilton’s shoulder during a Formula One race!”

Nic Chapman, Southern Regional Manager for Virbac, commented:  “The weather was fantastic and the experience of being aboard Virbac Paprec 70, both for the sailors and non-sailors among us, was exhilarating to say the least!  We all had a great couple of days and enjoyed our glimpse into the life of a yachting crew.”
