Noel Fitzpatrick and his team welcomed two men named Chris Evans to the official opening of the £6.2m Fitzpatrick Referrals Oncology and Soft Tissue Centre.
One was the BBC radio 2 breakfast show host Chris Evans, while the other was biotechnology entrepreneur Sir Chris Evans, who has founded more than 20 Science-based companies.
Guests from across the profession attend the official ceremony and specially invited dogs were at the heart of the proceedings when the ribbon to the hospital was finally cut. The opening event, which was also attended by Prof Fitzpatrick’s mum and other family members, featured tours for all guests around the new hospital, including its operating theatres, prep rooms, patient wards and chemotherapy suite.
Prof Fitzpatrick thanked team members from the existing practice in Eashing, Surrey and welcomed new ones, including “world-class medical oncologists, specially trained surgical and radiation oncologist and the best nursing teams”, who will be working to treat cancer patients at the new Surrey Research Park Site.
