In January, ROYAL CANIN® announced its co-sponsorship alongside Zoetis of the 2015 regional CPD programme of business and non-clinical training events organised by the VPMA and SPVS. Following a successful start to the year, July will see three further events hosted in Preston, Daventry and Belfast, entitled ‘The Consulting Nurse’ ‘Appraisals and Recruitment’ and ‘Moving Up’ respectively.
The first event, ‘The Consulting Nurse’, will take place in Preston on Wednesday 1st July 2015. Led by guest speaker Brian Faulkner the event will include his expert insights on consulting specifically for vet nurses. The event will be combined with a practical session on the content, design and marketing of nurse consults, where Brian will look at the different types of nurse consultation and explore common issues and communication strategies. Brian will be supported by the ROYAL CANIN® team who will run through some options for nurse clinics, from weight watching to managing diabetes; advocating good dental health to geriatric care, with tips on how to promote them, run them and measure outcomes in terms of increased compliance, vet appointments or client loyalty.
The second event, held in Daventry on Wednesday 8th July 2015 and focusing on appraisals and recruitment, will provide vets, nurses and practice managers with the tools and tips to have more useful and productive appraisal meetings. This workshop will cover some of the common mistakes, exploring how to identify the core requirements and how you can find, attract and select the best candidates.
‘Moving Up’ is the third CPD event, taking place in Belfast on Wednesday 22nd July. This highly popular session, hosted by experienced business consultants from co-sponsor Zoetis, is always a sell-out so early booking is recommended. The Zoetis consultants will be giving insights into key leadership and management techniques benefiting veterinary nurses who are new to a management role, or who have aspirations to become a head nurse or practice manager. The ‘Moving Up’ course is equally suited to existing head nurses or practice managers who would like to polish up their management and leadership skills.
Places on any of the planned events this year can be booked by calling 01453 872731 or by visiting www.spvs-vpma-events.co.uk. Workshops cost £265 plus VAT for non-members and £190 plus VAT for VPMA and SPVS members (group/bulk booking discounts are also available). Cost includes CPD certificates, lunch and refreshments.
