Sue Hay joins veterinary CPD Improve International

 

Mrs Sue Hay BVMS CertClEd MRCVS has joined veterinary CPD company Improve International as Head of Practical Skills.  In this role, she will support the company in the delivery of training and revalidation of Official Veterinarians (OVs) in England, Scotland and Wales, following its recent appointment by Animal Health and Veterinary Laboratories Agency (AHVLA), now called the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA), to handle this work.

Improve recently launched the new website and registration database containing details of the new process and the new OV qualifications, the ‘Official Controls Qualification (Veterinary) – or OCQ(V). 

In her new role, Sue Hay will manage the setting up of a network of regional assessors for the TB practical assessment which forms the final part of the OCQ(V) TT.   She is also Course Tutor for OCQ(V) ES and TT and will assist generally with curriculum development for all of the OCQ(V)s and revalidation courses.

Sue joins Improve International from APHA, the executive agency working on behalf of the Department for the Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra), Scottish Government and Welsh Government, where she worked in all areas of State Vet Medicine, specialising in TB, and in training OVs.  Having qualified from the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Glasgow, she worked in primarily mixed practice before joining AHVLA in 2002.

Commenting on her appointment, she said:  “I am delighted to be joining Improve International as the company starts to deliver this important contract for APHA.  My new role provides me with an ideal opportunity to use my State Veterinary Medicine experience in a specialised training role.”
