SPVS and VPMA are urging practices to book soon to take advantage of the congress Early Bird Discount which finishes on the 31st October. The two-day event is the premier veterinary business and management congress in the UK and takes place from the evening of the 30th January to the 1st February 2014 in Newport. SPVS President, Adi Nell, wanted to stress the practical and highly relevant programme, “In our programme this year, we’ve placed particular emphasis on helping practices with the every-day issues they face. Alongside the expert-led lectures on everything from staff development to stress management, we’ve scheduled lots of opportunities to hear from practice managers and vets on how they approach those day-to-day challenges and what we can learn from each other. I’d really like to encourage anyone with an interest in the non-clinical side of practice to come along, whether they’re new to the business and management aspects of running a practice, or have long-standing experience. There are benefits in attending for all.”
The congress hosts favourite speakers from the UK and abroad with an in-depth knowledge of the veterinary profession. Award-winning US speaker, Katherine Eitel, gets up close on leadership and how to deliver training that sticks, while vet Marc Abraham pitches into the Marketing, Money and Management stream with tips on marketing for free. Veterinary financial specialist Mark Beaney will discuss staff remuneration, and is joined by plenary speaker and John Lewis HR and Main Board Director Tracey Killen, to look at bonuses and their application in driving performance. With Brian Faulkner and Alan Robinson leading ‘Into Ownership’, a stream on essentials for budding practice owners, and Onswitch’s Alison Lambert focusing on reception training in the brand new Equine Management stream, delegates will be able to benefit from hands-on, practical experience from those who know vet practice inside out.
Congress will be held in the luxurious surroundings of the 5 star Celtic Manor Resort, for which organisers have negotiated excellent rates for delegate accommodation and the packed social agenda. The full programme and online booking can be found at www.vpma-spvsevents.co.uk/congress with an Early Bird Discount running until the end of October. Substantial discounts are also available for group bookings and members of SPVS or VPMA.
The associations are extremely grateful to the sponsors who have made this congress possible!
