Swan Saved by SSPCA

A swan that had a triple fishing hook attaching it’s beak to its wing, which caused it to swim in circles, has been rescued by the SSPCA. Animal rescue officer Sheena MacTaggart worked with the public to get the swan on dry land, which was then taken to the vet where the hooks were removed and fishing wire discovered in its throat. It was taken to a wildlife hospital where its face was stitched up. A week later it was released back into the wild. Ms MacTaggart said: “We urge the public to be more careful with fishing hooks and line when disposing of them as we deal with so many incidents, which are very similar, on a weekly basis.”
